In recent news from Daily News, Local food banks are running out of food for the poor. More and more families are going to food pantries to get free bags of dairy, produce, meat, and other basics because they are growing poor and unable to afford food.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, which supplies 600 pantries accross Los Angeles County, reports a fifth less food in its larder compared with last year.
The Valley Food Bank, operated by the San Fernando Rescue Mission, supplies food for 15 local pantries, who give food each week to nearly 3,500 families- or 13,700 people from Newhall to North Hollywood. That's up from serving 10,000 recipients last year.
