The Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger & Homelessness is one of the leading local homeless advocacy coalitions in the nation. We are helping lead the strategic planning process to create a plan to end homelessness, Bring LA Home, the only such public-private partnership in the country. Staff are leaders at the local, state and national levels on safety net issues, including welfare for families and individuals, disability programs and food stamps, affordable housing issues, focused on the federal Section 8 [federally subsidized housing] and are the recognized leaders by the National Coalition for the Homeless on voter empowerment issues. We take a highly principled “inside/”outside” strategy, and our well known for working well with policymakers as well as bringing lawsuits to protect the rights of homeless and very-low income people. We have a long history of organizing homeless people so that they speak for themselves.
