Housing
- National Low Income Housing Coalition and The National Low Income Housing Coalition is dedicated solely to ending America's affordable housing crisis. We believe that this is achievable, that the affordable housing crisis is a problem that Americans are capable of solving. While we are concerned about the housing circumstances of all low income people, we focus our advocacy on those with the most serious housing problems, the lowest income households.
- Corporation for Supportive Housing CSH helps communities create permanent housing with services to prevent and end homelessness. CSH strives for a day when homelessness is no longer a routine occurrence and supportive housing is an accepted, understood, and easy-to-develop response. In coordination with broader national efforts to end homelessness, CSH will help communities create 150,000 units of supportive housing during the next decade.

- National Alliance to End Homelessness
The Alliance is a nationwide federation of public, private, and nonprofit organizations working to end homelessness.
- National Coalition for the Homeless
The Coalition is a strong advocacy group to end homelessness in the following four areas: housing justice, economic justice, health care justice and civil rights. LACEH&H Executive Director Bob Erlenbusch is the President of the Board of Directors.
- National Coalition for Homeless Veterans
National Coalition for Homeless Veterans seeks to eliminate homelessness in the veteran community, and serves as a liaison between branches of the federal government and community-based homeless veteran service providers to shape public policy, educate the public and build the capacity of service providers.
- National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty
The Center’s mission is to alleviate, ameliorate and end homelessness by serving as the legal arm of the nationwide movement to end homelessness.
- National Resource Center on Homelessness and Mental Illness
The National Resource Center on Homelessness and Mental Illness is the only national center specifically focused on the effective organization and delivery of services for people who are homeless and have serious mental illnesses.
- National Student Campaign Against Hunger & Homelessness
Works with students and community members across the country to end hunger and homelessness through education, service and action. NSCAHH trains students on strategies to improve or create service programs that meet their community's needs.

- Food Research and Action Coalition
The Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) is the leading national organization
working to improve public policies to eradicate hunger and undernutrition in the
United States.
- Second Harvest
America's Second Harvest is the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization. Through a network of over 200 food banks and food-rescue programs, they distribute food to 26 million hungry Americans each year, eight million of whom are children.
- Share Our Strength
Share Our Strength is one of the nation's leading anti-hunger, anti-poverty organizations. We mobilize thousands of individuals in the culinary industry to organize events, host dinners, teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income families and serve as anti-hunger advocates. In addition, we mobilize hundreds of literary professionals to conduct benefit readings and contribute works to Share Our Strength books.

- The Brookings Institution
In its research, The Brookings Institution functions as an independent analyst and critic, committed to publishing its findings for the information of the public. In its conferences and activities, it serves as a bridge between scholarship and public policy, bringing new knowledge to the attention of decision-makers and affording scholars a better insight into public policy issues.

The Research Forum encourages collaborative research and informed policy on welfare reform, child and family well being, and community-related issues
- State Policy Documentation Project
SPDP tracks policy choices on Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) cash assistance programs and Medicaid in the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
- TANF Reauthorization Resources and Information
The Welfare Law Center's Low-Income Networking and Communications (LINC) Project is a nationally recognized initiative to enable low-income grassroots groups to use technology strategically to advance campaigns on economic security issues and to build their members' leadership and computer technology skills.

- The Workforce Alliance
This newly establish lobby has just launched its web site in March, 2002 and is building a constituancy of providers of education and training services. They have developed specific recommendations for reforms in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the Workforce Investment Act (WIA); and the Higher Education Act (HEA).
- Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
The Center is the leading progressive advocacy voice at the national level working on fiscal policy issues and issues affecting low- and moderate-income families and individuals. The Center specializes in research and analysis oriented toward policy decisions that policy-makers face at both federal and state levels.
- Center on Law and Social Policy
CLASP is a national non-profit organization with expertise in both law and policy affecting the poor. Through education, policy research and advocacy, CLASP seeks to improve the economic security of low-income families with children and secure access for low-income persons to our civil justice system.
- Coalition on Human Needs
The Coalition on Human Needs is an alliance of national organizations working together to promote public policies that address the needs of low-income and other vulnerable populations.
- HandsNet
HandsNet is a true pioneer in online collaboration and information sharing for the human services community. LACEH&H staff were among the founders. We include clips from HandsNet’s Webclipper among our news and action alert items.
- Living Wage Resource Center [ACORN]
ACORN®, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families; with over 100,000 member families organized into 500 neighborhood chapters in 40 cities across the country. Their priorities include: better housing for first time homebuyers and tenants, living wages for low-wage workers, more investment in our communities from banks and governments, and better public schools. L>A> Acorn is active in LACEH&H.

Housing California is a statewide coalition of over 1,000 affordable housing and homeless organizations.
Hunger
- California Food Policy Advocates
This statewide advocacy organization specializes in food stamps and the children’s nutrition programs. It has weekly email alerts, which we highly recommend.

- California Budget Project
Just as the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is the key advocate and researcher on national budget issues, CBP is the leading respected advocacy voice on the state budget. information
- California Council of Churches
Serves as a prophetic witness to the Christian gospel for 19 Protestant and orthodox denominations and over 15 million church members throughout California. The Council advocates on public policy issues including hunger, homelessness, health care, welfare reform, violence, civil rights, economic justice and religious liberty issues
- Western Center on Law and Poverty
The Western Center on Law and Poverty is a non-profit legal services program devoted to high-impact poverty law litigation and legislative advocacy in the state of California. Casey McKever, a long-time staff member, is the top Sacramento expert on CalWORKs.

- Southern California Association for Non-Profit Housing
The Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing (SCANPH) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to the development, preservation and management of permanently affordable housing for low-income people. SCANPH believes that the non-profit community development industry is the best vehicle of attainment of this goal.
Homelessness
- Los Angeles Community Action Network & Downtown Women's Action Coalition
LA CAN leadership is almost entirely comprised of low-income downtown residents of color, many of whom are currently or have been homeless. LA CAN places emphasis on recruiting members and staff who reflect the changing demographics of our community, such as the growing number of women residents. Other organizational leaders have had similar life experiences and struggles and are products of downtown or analogous communities.
- Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority
LAHSA is a City-County Joint Powers Authority, an independent unit of local government, formed to address the problems of homelessness on a regional basis.
- Shelter Partnership
Shelter Partnership, Inc. is dedicated to assisting in the development and maintenance of short-term and transitional housing programs, permanent housing, and supportive services for the homeless and potentially homeless throughout Los Angeles County. Shelter Partnership, Inc. is a unique, 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization which develops resources and housing for the growing number of homeless families and individuals in Los Angeles County. Since 1985, Shelter Partnership has continued to provide a variety of support to hundreds of agencies, free of charge. Shelter Partnership also serves as a resource to public agencies, the business community, local and national media, and community members involved in the issues of homelessness and the creation of permanent, affordable housing.

- Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is a private, nonprofit, charitable organization that has been serving the disadvantaged of our community for 28 years. The nation’s largest food bank, it is advocacy oriented as well as the heart of a charitable food distribution network that includes over 1,000 food pantries, shelters, group meal sites, residential treatment centers, soup kitchens, and day care centers in Los Angeles County.

- Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty
The Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty is a non-profit, non-partisan, research and policy organization serving the research and networking needs of academics, government, community based direct service agencies, policy-advocacy organizations, the media, philanthropic organizations, policymakers and other members of the community involved with the issues of homelessness and poverty.
- Los Angeles Alliance for A New Economy (LAANE)
Founded in 1993, LAANE is recognized as a national authority on issues affecting the working poor and an innovator in the fight against working poverty. Combining a vision of social justice with a practical approach to social change, LAANE has helped set in motion a broad movement based on the principle that hard work deserves fair pay, good benefits and decent working conditions.
- Strategic Alliance for a Just Economy (SAJE)
SAJE is an economic justice and popular education center that has been building economic power for working class people in Los Angeles since 1996. Over the past nine years SAJE's winning combination of community organizing, coalition-building, and grassroots policy has gained significant benefits for the community.
